Commonly called a hack and slasher, Samurai Warriors returns. Perhaps even THE hack and slasher. We were actually able to demo this one at the E3. Essentially we just had to hack and slash our way through 50 enemies within 90 seconds. As we hacked (& slashed) a special ability bar filled which can then be used to unleash more powerful slashes (& hacks).

A classic, you play a character who travels with his companion Blobert (Blob to me and you) across our hero’s home (Earth) and his side kick Blobert’s home Blobolonia in a quest to defeat the evil emperor. Feeding Mr. Blobby food will change is shape: A licorice jelly bean, for example, will change Blobert into a ladder.

Taking place in a carnival type atmosphere the game involves you playing mini-games and riding rides. Not the most critically acclaimed game, in fact it was ridiculed. The shallow gameplay and generic cartoon visuals made it hard to get any enjoyment. It was considered response to Carnival Games.

Ben Beat Biter bore… sorry: when Street Fighter IV launched in February of last year it was met with such critical acclaim and commercial success that Capcom saw fit to update the game with new characters, arenas and gameplay modes in Super Street Fighter IV, released earlier this year.

Square Enix has announced Chocobo Racing is coming to the 3DS, somewhat creatively it is going to be called Chocobo Racing 3D (not confirmed yet!). The game, first released in the UK in 2000, is a racing game similar to Mario Kart (link)

As a prequel to Saints Row 3, THQ (the game developer) will be release Saints Row: Drive By. Surprisingly, Nintendo approached THQ on this one: there aim being that they wanted an M rated game on the console to appeal to the more hardcore gamer. It’s good to see Nintendo catering for all.
